Although you’d never guess it from my accent, I’m originally from Eritrea, East Africa, and lived in various countries throughout Africa before moving to the United States for high school. I graduated from Harvard University with a history and French degree and somehow ended up in advertising. My career started at Leo Burnett in Chicago where I worked on brands like Kellogg’s Cereals, McDonald’s, and Hallmark. After enduring a decade of snowy winters in Boston and Chicago I caved and went west.
Following a brief stint in Las Vegas where I worked on various MGM Mirage properties, I landed at Deutsch LA. There I ran the CiCi’s Pizza account and partnered with the CMO and marketing team, other departments, and franchisees to take the local chain national and grow their geographic footprint. My last stop on the ad agency circuit before coming to Grace Blue was at Goodby Silverstein and Partners in San Francisco. In my four years there, I pitched, won, and ran the SONIC Drive-In account. I also pitched and won the eBay global business. Other accounts I led include Nestle ice cream brands Häagen-Dazs and Dreyer’s, Princess Cruise lines, Seagate, and Dali Museum.
I’m an avid traveler and am currently working on learning my fifth language.
