After graduating in economics from the University of Vienna, I started my career at Young & Rubicam. After some 13 years I was hired by Ted Bates Werbagentur, Frankfurt as Chairman in 1985.
I joined JWT in 1990 as Chairman and CEO of JWT Germany, also based in Frankfurt and added the role of Area Director Central and Eastern Europe in 1993. I moved to London in 1997 when JWT appointed me President of Europe, Middle East and Africa. During this period, JWT acquired TMI, today the leading agency in MENA. I added the Asia Pacific region to my portfolio in 2004, and became President of JWT APAC moving to Singapore in 2006 to better focus on building up the network’s creative firepower and maximizing the growth potential of the fast-growing Asian region. In January 2013, I became Chairman of JWT APAC.
I decided that, after 42 years in the industry and 25 years with JWT, this was NOT the time to retire, and I was very pleased to be offered the role as Chairman for Grace Blue APAC in 2014.
Finding talent is something I have always enjoyed, and it is also the biggest challenge agencies are facing.
